Performance Poet Dean Atta, who was named one of the most influential LGBT people by the Independent on Sunday Pink List, had this to say about the Creative Future Literary Awards and the importance of creative writing:
‘Poetry gave me a space where I did not feel marginalised any more, whether I was writing about race, sexuality or mental health, I never felt I had to be anything other than my authentic self. Any platform that encourages this form of expression should be applauded and supported.’
