Creative Future Writers’ Award

Showcasing the work and amplifying the voices of underrepresented writers

Founded in 2013, the Creative Future Writers’ Award is an annual development programme for talented writers from underrepresented backgrounds.

It includes the UK’s only free to enter national writing competition for all underrepresented writers, alongside workshops online and across the UK.

With the support of our leading literary partners, fifteen winners are selected by a panel of prestigious authors and industry experts and are given the opportunity to develop their work through training, mentoring, assessment, coaching and long-term 1:1 support and opportunities.

Prizes are awarded for poetry, fiction and creative non-fiction, including cash and prestigious professional writing development opportunities.

Winners are celebrated at our high profile awards ceremony–in most years at the Southbank Centre as part of London Literature Festival—featuring the winning writers and prominent guest authors.

Winning work is also published in an anthology alongside our guest authors.
