Announcing our 2019 Writer In Residence: Emma McGordon

25 March 2019

We’re pleased to announce our 2019 CFWA Writer In Residence is Emma McGordon.

Emma McGordon is an award-winning writer and performer published by Tall Lighthouse, Penned In The Margins, Handstand and Blacksuede Boot. She is the recipient of two Arts Council Awards, a Northern Writers Award and the Julia Darling Fellowship, which allowed her to pursue a research project in San Francisco. She has worked extensively in arts participation and was the Associate Artist with Rosehill Theatre, Cumbria for three years.  Find out more about Emma here.

This unique residency places an emerging/mid-career writer from an under-represented background on site at Preston Park Recovery Centre, an award-winning mental health recovery day centre.   Over six months, Emma will have the opportunity to interact and inspire centre users, while also having time and space to write and reflect.

Alongside the residency, Emma will receive support and opportunities via Creative Future and New Writing South, a £2,000 bursary, and be published in the 2019 CFWA anthology alongside the award winners and judge/host Kerry Hudson.

We received a record number of 32 extremely high quality applications for this year’s residency, and would like to sincerely thank all those who applied.
