‘After a full belly, all is poetry*’ A writing workshop on the joy of food

About the workshop

Food represents pleasure, sustenance, sharing, friendship, family, culture, home and travel. In writing it can be used to set scenes, show character, as celebration, comfort or metaphor.

Informal and fun, this session is a delicious day of literature and writing exercises inspired by food. With appetisers, starters, main and desserts from contemporary writers and poets, we will experiment with our own writing, read/listen to excerpts with discussion and have opportunities for optional sharing.

About the workshop leaders

IMPART has been generously supported by the Baring Foundation to provide a year-long training and development programme under its Creatively Minded and Ethnically Diverse strand. Emerging writers are being mentored by more experienced ones in how to run creative writing workshops. In this instance, George is being mentored by Akila and they, in turn, are both co-leading the workshop.
