Material is the anthology of winning entries to the 2026 Creative Future Writers’ Award, the only national competition for all underrepresented writers—those whose voices are not heard in the mainstream due to health, mental health challenges, ethnicity, disability, identity or social circumstance.
Here you’ll find powerful short stories, inspiring poems and heartfelt creative non-fiction from talented new voices, alongside work by our award-winning judges Nancy Campbell, Courttia Newland and Kieran Yates. Also included are new works by our 2026 Writers in Residence Jay Farley and Jess Murrain.
