Rose Kigwana (she/her)
Chief Executive Officer
Rose has a wealth of experience in cultural placemaking, fundraising, creative programming and producing creative experiences for and with children, young people and underserved communities. Rose is passionate about supporting underrepresented individuals and communities to thrive. She has worked for South East Dance, Southbank Centre, Artswork, Arts Council England, Southwark Arts Forum and Young Bristol. In her early career she worked for Voluntary Services Overseas as a Creative Training adviser in Zimbabwe after initially starting out as a self-employed craft designer maker and curator.
Rose is always looking for ways to be creative. Her most recent project involved assisting in the construction and leading the interior design of Brighton's newest public arts space, The Dance Space.
Matt Freidson (he/him)
Deputy Director
Matt has worked to support marginalised people for twenty years, working with refugees/asylum seekers, on housing estates and in community development, as well as supporting over 100 community organisations. He has published over twenty short stories in literary journals and anthologies, and his book is available here.
Scarlett Langdon (she/her)
Communications Manager
Scarlett has a background in communications, digital marketing, community engagement and events production. She has worked in the charity sector for many years, having worked previously for Brighton and Hove LGBTQ Switchboard, Prisoners’ Education Trust, Quakers in Britain and Arts Students’ Union. Scarlett is passionate about making the arts more accessible to people from marginalised backgrounds and creating an arts industry which is more diverse and representative of the world we live in.
Louise Evans (she/her)
Administrator
While studying for a BA in Printmaking Louise developed an interest in participatory art practices. Louise has previously facilitated art-based workshops with Brighton Aldrich Community Academy, Artyfacts Art Academy.
Louise achieved a Merit in her MA in Inclusive Arts Practice, for her work with the Rocket Artists to conducted arts-based research surrounding facilitation and running inclusive workshops.
Christian Jane-Heidsiek (he/him)
Finance Officer
Christian has worked in the charity sector for the past 20 years as a freelance finance worker. He works with a wide range of voluntary organisations ranging from support for the underprivileged, women’s advocacy groups, alternative health providers or third world projects.
Our Founders
Dominique De-Light
After running Creative Future for 11 years, and establishing the Creative Future Writers’ Awards, Dominique is now a creativity and wellbeing coach at www.wellbalancedcoaching.co.uk, an arts and health consultant, and founder and director of another charity, Well Balanced Kids, providing yoga and mindfulness sessions to children and young people across Sussex.
Simon Powell
Simon co-directed Creative Future from 2007 – 2015, focusing on the visual arts side of things, including Tight Modern and The Impact Art Fair. In 2017 he established a programme of arts at St. Joseph’s Hospice in Hackney, London, serving patients, nurses and the local community. More recently he has been busy with personal projects - filmmaking, game design and writing.
