A limited edition print run of 10 by artist Elle Isolde
Elle Isolde is a London based artist. After leaving school she didn’t do any form of art for twenty years and instead focused on raising her children and working in various jobs. Elle considers herself to be a self-taught painter.
Elle’s work often is usually figurative and focuses on aspects of the feminine, mythology and folklore. There is often focus on the faces and emotion expressed in the women she paints. Her art invites the viewer to weave their own story into the piece before them. Elle participated in her first group exhibition ‘Behind Closed Doors’ at The Strand Gallery, London in May 2017 – exhibiting her oil painting “An Unlikely Sanctuary” to raise money for animal rights.
She works in a variety of media; acrylics, oils, pastel and watercolours and over the last few years has begun creating ceramic work. She often bypasses using a sketchbook, but will make thumbnails of ideas and then go straight into the work itself. She enjoys the work of many artists; her favourites being Frida Kahlo, Arthur Rackham and the pre-Raphaelite painters.
At the moment Elle creates art at her kitchen table, but one day she hopes to have a small studio of her own. Elle says “the process of moving colour around on a palette, expressing a story or thoughts on to a canvas, or moving clay around with my hands has helped me in more ways than I often realise. Art really is an escape, yet also way to find home”.
